**Update** I did find where to see the breakdown of the amounts being used to calculate total income and IT IS still attaching another 1/3 of our disaster amount. Turbo Tax needs to correct this. We should not have to wait for the form when it is a moot point for those who completed the 3 years already. Also, really stressful to see we owe when I knew we shouldn’t….I hope they fix this soon…

Thank You!! HUGE change from owing to not. I really appreciate your help!
FYI, running 2023 taxes using TT (desktop) in Jan 2024. It also adds the 1/3rd Coronavirus distribution to AGI, even though the taxable distribution years were 2020, 2021, 2022. Smart check indicates a new 8915-F for late Feb 2024. Hoping that corrects the current problem, but means I can't file around 2/1/24 and must wait on the update.

The Form 8915-F for tax year 2023 would be for reporting a disaster distribution in 2021, 2022 or 2023. It will not remove the current problem you are experiencing.
The Form 8915-F Worksheet and the Form 8915-F along with the Form 1099-R were transferred from the 2022 tax return and need to be deleted. There may also be a "Qualified Disaster Retirement Plan Distributions" and/or a "2020 Disaster Distribution" form listed that has to be deleted.
If you are using the TurboTax desktop CD/Download editions installed on your personal computer, click on Forms.
When in Forms mode locate these forms on the left side of the screen. Click on the form to open each one and at the bottom of the screen click on Delete Form

Why is 1/3 covid withdrawal showing up as a 1099-R in 2023? The covid withdrawal was paid 1/3 in 2020, 1/3 in 2021, and 1/3 in 2022. It should not be showing in the 2023 tax return at all. Deleting the 8915F-T does nothing to get this removed. Any help would be appreciated.
Deleting this form does not change the taxes owed calculation and the 1/3 from previous years is still showing up in the "total income" when you click "explain my taxes."
@FZ2671 Were there the other forms shown in your return when deleting as I posted in a later reply?

Deleting the qualified disaster distribution forms corrected the issue. Thank you.
Same here. After deleting the two 8915-F forms, the Coronavirus 3-year split no longer appears in 2023's return. Seems TT should notify users. For the last 10+ years, my info just carried over from the prior year. Had no idea that I could or would need to manually delete a prior year's form.
Whenever you start a new return each year, TurboTax will transfer every form that was included in your previous year's tax return. For example, if you received unemployment for tax year 2022 and entered a 1099-G on last year's return, this year's return would also have a 1099-G that you would need to delete this year if you did not have any unemployment income in 2023. Since it is deleted off this year's return, it will not auto-generate next year. @BahHumbug
