1040 e-filed OK in March, got Acceptance email back from IRS. When I now attempt to amend via e-file, TTax is telling me that I can't because my original return was not e-filed thru TTax, even though it was, and it says as much when I check the status. Any ideas?

Do you happen to be on a Mac? This is supposed to be fixed. Have you run the latest updates?
This workaround unblocks and resets the efile status for the tax return which could be achieved.
You need to change the SSN to dummy SSN (like all zeros in ssn) and perform check efile status, then re-enter your real SSN afterward. The steps are listed below.
Steps:
On a PC, not Mac. Software has been updated. Tried the solution as shown, all 5 steps, but end result was exactly the same: Ttax still claims I hadn't e-filed 1040 thru Ttax, yet checking status shows that I had. Still stumped.
Did you check the status here? You first need to check the filing status inside the program so it knows it was filed and accepted. Open your return and go up to the top black menu bar first item
File > Electronic Filing > Check Electronic Filing Status
Then save your return and close it. Close the program and reopen it.
Were you signed in when you filed the original return? You may need to be signed into the same account. How many TurboTax Accounts do I have? And where did you check the e-file status?
No change whether I use drop-down File, etc. or use oblong box. Same result: Ttax says return was successfully filed, yet won't let me file amended one with "It looks like you haven't e-filed 1040 through turbotax."
Probably wasn't signed in when I submitted. Only signed in when needed to download to another machine. Using downloaded version, NOT online Ttax. Tried signing in but that didn't seem to change anything.
You may need to transfer the file to the old machine.
Won't be able to do that, as old machine crashed and was discarded. Not sure which machine initially submitted return that was accepted, but I would think that using the downloaded software on different machines wouldn't matter, especially since the .tax2024 file was moved from one machine to the other.
Here's something else that may or may not be relevant: I purchased TTax Biz and TTax H&B from a 3rd party vendor (won't do that again). Was issued the license numbers for my PC, but each time another family member attempted to install on their machines, as allowed, original license would not work. Vendor issued new license number each time -- which worked -- but now I see in my Intuit account that the newer ones show as if they are for Mac software. So the new question is, does the license number have any effect on the problem of software showing return was accepted, but yet can't be amended because it also thinks the original was not submitted via e-file? (Never noticed any connection before between licenses and submissions; if this could be an issue, how can I tell license number of the specific returns (what was used for original return, and what is used on attempted amended one); also, in my case, I don't believe I download the software again, I only gave the new license info when asked for.) Does this make any sense? Is there even any license/return connection?
Can you send us a screenshot of the error message you are getting?
Here's a screenshot of the error when attempting the amended e-file. Yet 2nd screenshot shows original return was accepted when checking that status.
