Guys,
I received a mail from California Franchise Tax Board for my LLC stating that they have received my $800 payment for my entity id for the tax year 2020 but they could not locate a tax return for the same year.
This was the year I used TurboTax all by myself for the first time, prior to this year I used to go CPA for my taxes. I was under the assumption that TurboTax will file everything for me, perhaps I am missing something?
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
You need to go back in to your TurboTax account and check the 2020 return to make sure that it was actually filed and not either rejected or completed and not sent. You have to get all of the way to the end and send the electronic file. In some cases the software can't file the return electronically and will tell you that you need to file by mail.
Either way, log in to the TurboTax account that you used originally and then check on the status of that return. That'll give you more information to work with.
Thank you @RobertB4444
I did check the eFile status of 2020, and it says, Federal accepted and State accepted. I see my LLC info and Schedule C filled in, Form 8995 filled in, and Form 8453-LLC generated with no data, and I do not see Form 568 at all.
I did receive emails stating that Federal and State have accepted the returns.
What are my options now? is there a way I can go back to the 2020 filing and somehow ask TurboTax to generate Form 568 (as it already has all my data)?
I am noticing a similar thing in the 2121 filing as well, for some reason TurboTax did not generate these forms and did not file them, I took the best available TurboTax online subscription!!
You can amend your 2020 return to add the form and submit it to California and take care of the 2020 problem. You may want to do that for 2021 as well.
Great!!
Is there any how-to guide? that will help me a lot!!
Please review the TurboTax Help article How do I amend my federal tax return for a prior year? For specific instructions to amend your 2020 and 2021 tax returns that were completed in TurboTax. For more information please review the TurboTax articles How to Correct Federal Tax Returns and How to File an Amended Tax Return with the IRS.
After you amend your federal tax return, you can amend your California tax return.

you cannot amend a return that has not been received.
You'll have to resubmit the 2020 tax return on paper.
You don't need to file an amended return, and you don't need to resubmit your return in paper form (you stated above that your return had been accepted). Click on the following link for instructions on how to fill out Form 568. Fill out the form, and mail to the FCB along with a copy of the letter you received from them.
Thank you all guys for the help!! Finally, followed the instructions on generating 568, printed it, and mailed it to franchise Tax board, I didn’t have to amend my taxes.
