If they can or qualify to claim you on the 2019 tax return but they do not actually claim, you will still not eligible to receive a stimulus check.
However, if they do not qualify to claim you on their 2020 tax return, which will be done next year, you will receive one next year.

thanks for getting back to me. they do not qualify to claim me. i am wondering if it makes a difference that i selected “yes someone can claim me” on my tax return, even though they cannot.
Yes, it makes a difference on your tax return if someone else can claim you as a dependent on their return. By selecting yes to this question, you will not get a stimulus check. If you believe you filed your return incorrectly, you may want to file a 2019 (1040X) Amended Return.
In order to file an amended return, make sure that your 2019 return was accepted in TurboTax Online or paper-filed through the mail by the IRS.
To prepare an amended return through TurboTax, follow these steps:
How long will this take to amend and get your stimulus check ? Also is it true that if you decide not to change it for this year 2019 that if you're independent for next year's tax season that you will get your stimulus check then ?
Whether you amend or not, you will likely have to wait until next year to get a stimulus check. In normal times, it can take a couple months for the IRS to process an amended return. I'm sure this year, it would take considerably longer.
Okay , yeah I was thinking of amending it because my hours have just been cut by 50% and I work at a hospital... But if you are 100% certain that I will receive my $1200 next year then I guess I can wait , not that I have an option because amending the form like you mentioned will take a while either way. You're sure I will get it though right ? As long as I put myself as independent for next year tax season
