Need to Amend 2019 Tax but won't let me add stock sold
Hello,
A chunk of stock sold was not included in my 2019 return and I now need to amend for refile & payment. When I try to input the stock it says "must be sold prior to 2018" although I'm adding for 2019 (sold Feb 2019)....any idea why?
Additionally, the IRS incorrectly noted a 2nd batch of stock as unfiled, however it was included. Is there a way I can add a note to the refile that shows this?

Are you using the 2019 Desktop program? You were able to open your return to amend? Maybe you need to update the program. Go up to Online-Check for Updates.

First reconfirm you are working with TurboTax 2019.
OTHERWISE,
get Form 8949 for tax year 2019 at the IRS website and fill it out yourself.
You need the proper sheet for each sales category you are reporting.
then you have two choices.
1) Fill out schedule D yourself based on what your 8949(s) show(s).
2) Use turbotax to summarize your sales by category and verify the subtotals for your 8949(s) are on the appropriate line(s) on the generated Schedule D.
TurboTax will give you a form 8949 that says "See attached"
When you file include instead your 8949 with the transaction details.
Do not attach extraneous notes or memos unless the IRS explicitly asked for them.
