Thanks @Ebony A , however this does not resolve my question whether or not TurboTax has sent my return to the IRS. IT has been longer than 48 hours and I have not received any emails from TurboTax . Could some please let me know where my return is at. I tried calling TurboTax and there is no option to speak to a human being, at all. I tried the IRS various sites, however it doesn't seem they received my return. I am not interested in the refund status, I just want to know if they received my return by Monday April 18.
We do not have access to your account in this public forum.
"Pending" means that your e-filed return is on its way and that the government hasn't accepted or rejected it yet. Until they accept or reject it, they won't have any record of it.
You will receive an email when your return goes from pending status to Accepted or Rejected. You may want to check your spam folders if you do not see it in your inbox. Please see this Help Article for more information, including how to check your e-file status.

I am actually having the same issue and it has been more than 48 hours and my return is still pending. I also used a new email address and received the security email. Would it be possible to know if TurboTax actually submitted my tax return at all?
Please follow the instructions here to check the status of your return. As long as it shows pending, then your return was sent via e-file. It can take longer than 48 hours for your return to be accepted, depending on the return. @Wylimichelle
Turbotax needs to fix this experience. My extension is also pending and its likely to run past the deadline. I have a huge estimated Tax payment that's pending along with it - so I have to wait this out. While waiting, I realized I could have just gone directly to the IRS website (Direct Pay) and pay my estimated taxes and get the extension automatically. But I don't want to do that now as it might cause a double payment if my pending status is accepted. Turbotax has a great User Experience overall, but this is one they need to fix.
@mike_locke so sorry to hear that and I totally agree that TurboTax needs to fix this.. My tax return is still pending. And according to the customer service rep, my return needs to be reviewed before forwarding to tax authority. But it has been 3 days and i can do nothing about it but to wait .. I am not sure what is holding my tax return and it is really frustrating at this point.
This was my exact experience, TurboTax never submitted my return for 3 days and they lead me to believe that they did. I could not get a hold of anyone to tell me what the case was. On day 4 I was notified that my return was submitted. Immediately after that I was able to very on IRS website that my return was pending with them. Very misleading and stressful to sit there and wait for the IRS to accept within 48 hours when TurboTax had not even transmitted my return. All of Turbotax message board responses and status "pending" was not helpful.
Next year I won't be using this service any more.
@goldbabes Was your state return submitted together with the federal return or after? It seems like my federal one was submitted but not my state return, and both status are still pending :(
Hi @Wylimichelle a state return is not applicable for us. I am sorry I hope you get your state return figured out soon.
@Wylimichelle if it is of any help I read a this post that as long as the IRS received your return by April 18 your status is not late.
I hope Turbotax at least did that for you.
Ah I see.. Even though the status is still pending on TurboTax, I was able to track my return on IRS website so I think my federal is safe. But unfortunately in the efile status it seems like it was received by TurboTax but still pending received by the state and I was not able to get any answer from them :( it’s just too stressful, I don’t think I am going to use TurboTax anymore.
thanks for your reply tho!
It went into pending on Friday Jan 20th it still says pending today...they told me it should be .accepted or rejected today but nothing....
It can take up to 24 hours to get your ACCEPTED message !
On opening day, IRS may not take all pending returns at once, but in batches.
I got an email that my return would be held for 48hours because I created a new TurboTax account because I couldn’t get into my old account, supposedly they said after 48hours my return would be sent but it hasn’t been sent and I tried to call to ask why but the lady doesn’t really speak English and couldn’t help me nothing was resolved she had me do the cobrowser thing and looked but couldn’t understand that I just wanted to verify I was the person who filed and created a new account she turned it into something completely complicated and couldn’t answer me
Me to it must be a glitch then our returns get stuck in limbo
