My return

My return is in processing status with IRS still. It's been over 21 days. Why?

The IRS would be the only ones that would know why your return is delayed.  Did your return include the Earned Income Credit or the Additional Child Tax Credit?  If it does, see the following on delaying some refunds.

  • The IRS expects the earliest Earned Income Tax Credit and Additional Child Tax Credit related refunds to be available in taxpayer bank accounts or on debit cards by  March 1 if they chose direct deposit and there are no other issues with their tax return. However, some taxpayers may see their refunds a few days earlier. Check Where's My Refund? for their personalized refund date.

21 days is not a promise or guarantee.

If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing.

Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control.  TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.

You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 35a of your 2021 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:
