Today i have finally received my federal refund however to my surprise I'm currently missing over $2,000 dollars. I began investigating reason why and one main reason was the offset. I investigated my status with the irs and i didn't have any debt owe to state or student loans. What is going I don't know what to do from here how I can receive to money that is owed to me why am i missing over $2,000. Based on turbo tax i was supposed to already have received my full refund but I'm currently missing so much.

I am having the same issue and unable to speak to anybody as soon as you call TurboTax they say call the IRS and hang up on you
None of these reason apply to me i missing over $2800. Iv checked with the irs of offset debt.. and i didn't have any.. what is going on.
I’m in the same position, I have double checked and triple checked with the IRS, i’m just hoping that there’s someone on here that has a number to somebody higher up in TurboTax I can explain why TPG who is The company that TurboTax is using to pay out our refunds is withholding our money
Did you all find out why your money was missing
i I called the offset number
I looked at my transcripts
I called the irs and no debt is owed
and I’m short $2000
@kristinw98 When you called the IRS did you ask them why your refund was less than the amount shown on your tax return? The IRS frequently proposes changes to a tax return due to missing information (e.g. a W-2 that isn't reported on the return), or what they call a "math error" where you input an incorrect amount. These changes often result in a change to the amount of a refund. If the IRS proposes changes to your tax return they send a letter explaining the changes. If you agree you do nothing. If you don't agree you have to respond to them. I suggest you call the IRS again, and confirm the amount of your refund and if it is different than what was on your return ask them to explain why. Contact the IRS.
