One of the pitfalls of being a very early filer is that early filers are sometimes subjected to closer scrutiny as a way to prevent identity theft and tax fraud.  Not sure where you got the date of February 7 for your refund--that was unrealistic especially if you were getting earned income credit or additional child tax credit.

TurboTax gives you an estimated date for receiving your refund based on a 21 day average from your date of acceptance, but it can take longer.

Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control.  TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.

You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 20a of your Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:

To track your state refund:

On the IRS site you are also offered the use of an app called IRS2Go

If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing.

Thank you for your help here! I have actually done all of these steps and IRS.GOV/REFUNDS shows my status is still pending. I did read a few articles saying there may be a delay even further for early filers. I mostly was coming onto this platform (Turbo Tax) to ask questions to see if anyone else is experiencing the same thing.

To find out the delay in your refund you should contact the IRS directly. Help with doing so has been provided below for you.

This isn't helpful because I have been trying to contact IRS directly for a while and there is no way to get through to them. I just want to know if there are other people experiencing this? Last year I filed right away and received my refunds for both State + Federal within 2 weeks of being accepted.

Maybe the following will help you get to a real person with the IRS, it has helped others

The IRS telephone number is 1-800-829-1040, and they are available from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Monday thru Friday. The best time to call is early in the morning.

- The first question the automated system will ask you is to choose your language.

- Once you’ve set your language, do NOT choose Option 1 (regarding refund info). Choose option 2 for “Personal Income Tax” instead.
- Next, press 1 for “form, tax history, or payment”.
- Next, press 3 “for all other questions.”
-Next, press 2 “for all other questions.”
- When the system asks you to enter your SSN or EIN to access your account information, do NOT enter anything.
-After it asks twice, you will be prompted with another menu.
-Finally, press 2 for personal or individual tax questions. The system should then transfer you to an agent.
