My admended return was submitted by mistake. How do i fix it

If you did not print and mail the amended tax return, Form 1040X, to the IRS then nothing was sent.

You cannot amend a tax return merely by changing the information in the tax return that was filed.

If you need to correct a tax return that has been filed and accepted by the IRS, then remove All and Any changes you made to the original tax return.

Wait for the tax refund to be received or the taxes owed and paid to be processed by the IRS.

An amended tax return, Form 1040X, can only be printed, signed, dated and mailed by you to the IRS, it cannot be e-filed.  The IRS will take from 3 to 4 months to process the amended tax return.

A 2019 amended tax return, Form 1040X, which you have to print, sign, date and mail to the IRS, is not yet available for 2019.

What exactly did you do?
