mailed payment but efile was rejected

I efiled my return and then mailed my payments.  However, my efile was rejected and I am going to have to refile by mail.  What happens to previous payments I mailed with the efile electronic form document?

The tax payments you mailed to the IRS will be entered in your Tax Account and when the federal tax return is processed the payments will be applied to the taxes owed as reported on the tax return.

You have until Monday to paper file the return to be considered timely filed ... don't send the payment again since you already mailed it in.   Attach a copy of the rejection notice with the return.
