K-1 federal form and Virginia State Tax

I received a K-1 form from an estate.  The amount of money I received from the estate is not listed anywhere on the form- the executor of the estate said the accountant told her no federal tax is due.  I also received a Schedule 5 Form 770 that was sent to Virginia as that is where the estate was.  On line 5a it shows the amount I received.  Where in Turbo Tax do I enter this amount on a Virginia non-resident tax return?  Or do I even have to file a Virginia return?

Thanks

You only need to add this to your return if the 1041 K1 has anything in boxes 1 - 11.  If there isn't anything there then you don't need to add it to your federal return or a Virginia return.

If there are amounts in boxes 1 through 8 on the K1 then you have taxable income.  That needs to be on your federal return.  Add up the amounts in those boxes.  If they total more than $11,950 ($23,900 if you're married) then you need to file a Virginia return as well.  If they don't then you don't.
