After filing my 2016 tax return I reviewed the downloaded form and noticed that the amount entered for a 1099-misc was wrong. It was too high. How do I correct that.

It was from a Alaska PFD.  The amount that got entered was last years amount.

Just send in a corrected 1040.  It is that simple
