Is turbo tax affiliated with Santa Barbara Tax Products Group? I keep getting emails requesting personal information and saying my account is on “hold”

Did you request to have the TurboTax account fees paid from the federal tax refund?  If so, the IRS sends the federal tax refund to the Santa Barbara Tax Products group.  They then deduct the TurboTax account fees and their service charge from the refund.  The remainder of the refund is then direct deposited into the account you selected on your tax return.

Interestingly, I just got off the phone with a Turbo Tax rep and they said they have never heard of Santa Barbara Tax Products Group. SBTPGs emails ask for my entire social security number. Then they ask for a copy of a government ID. Sounds like a scam to me and to the Turbo Tax rep I spoke with.
