You can only efile 2024 now and 2025 starting January 2026. Years 2023 you have to print and mail. And you will have to use the Desktop installed program for prior years. They only sell the last 3 years, so only 23, 22 and 21. 2021 will drop off soon when they start selling 2025 in November.
2020
Sorry you can no longer use Turbo Tax to prepare or amend a 2020 return. Not Online and not using the Desktop program. You need to do it yourself or go to a local tax place or accountant.
Even if you find or reinstall the Desktop program, you will never be able to activate the 2020 program with the License Code. The License Code started in 2019. So it needs to connect to Turbo Tax to verify the License Code. But they have stopped supporting 2020 and prior.
If you have a simple return and want to file for free you can fill out the forms by hand. Here are some basic forms.....
Here is the 2020 1040 return

Don’t forget your state. And you will have to print and mail your returns. So be sure to attach copies of your W2s and any 1099s that have withholding on them. You have to mail federal and state in separate envelopes because they go to different places. Get a tracking number from the post office when you mail them for proof of filing.
It is too late to file to get a refund for 2020. But you still have to file and pay any tax due. If you do have a tax due the interest has been adding up so file as soon as possible.
You can complete and e-file your 2024 return online until October 15, 2025 if you filed an extension. Of course you can’t do your 2025 return until next year. The other previous returns must be prepared with a disk or downloaded program to your computer for that particular year. The return must be printed and mailed. You might find locating prior programs difficult. You could try downloading the appropriate forms and completing them manually or go to a paid preparer.
You can only do the last 3 years with Turbo Tax. Online is only good for the current year. For prior years you need to buy the Desktop program. You have to buy each year separately. You can buy the last 3 years of Turbo Tax here,
https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/past-years-products/
You will need a full Windows or Mac to install it on.
How to prepare a prior year return
Or if you want to file for free and have a simple return you can get the blank forms from the IRS and fill them in by hand. I have a list of some of the basic ones I can post direct links to.
Oh you would not be able to use the 2020 return you already started. It might let you download the .tax2020 data file but you couldn’t use it since they don’t sell the 2020 program to open it.
