This is the first year I have an Identity Protection PIN from the IRS. When e-filing I expected to be prompted to enter the IP PIN. But, no, my return was allowed to be e-filed anyway without the IP PIN.
After searching Help, I see that I could have entered the IP PIN before e-filing, but how am I supposed to know that? The TurboTax software should have prompted me to enter the IP PIN.
I expect the IRS to reject my e-file. What will happen next?
