IRS has no record of my filing

I printed my transcript and IRS has no record of my 2019 return. But they have record of my 2019 payment that was with my return.  So, they did receive it.

I submitted my 2020 return by mail because turbotax kept saying they could not identify my me. I had to go on IRS website and go through the process of getting identification verified.  It was because I was entering 2019 AGI and IRS had it listed as zero which conflicted with my entry.

My spouse had an EIN number and did not need the AGI to identify him.

My questions: Where is our 2019 return? Will our 2020 be processed? Our income changed to the point that we will should receive a refund. Will that happen anytime this year? We qualified for a stimulus. Will we still be awarded our stimulus since they were not able to direct deposit due to this mix-up?

IRS has no record of my filing

What number do we fax it to ? I'm in same boat has anyone had anything resolved ? What do we do ?

IRS has no record of my filing

As a user of TT for many years ,  I completed my 2019 taxes without error and submitted to TT to file with the IRS.   I received an email on 7/7/2020 saying my 2019 1040ES was accepted by the IRS.  I have not received Stimulus #2 or #3.  I created an account at the IRS and requested my report of my account for 2019.  It showed my Estimated Payments and a "Payment with return".  But NO RETURN!"  Please HELP!  I have been calling the IRS for several days, all times between &am and & pm.  I have tried all the options when I did get in, no options applied to my  issue.  Again, Please Help.

IRS has no record of my filing

I ended up printing a duplicate of my 2019 and sending it with a letter explaining and including the DCN provided by TT (that's the tracking number provided by the IRS to TT when taxes are e-filed) - I wrote COPY on the top of every page - I've heard rumors that sending tax forms in twice can cause problems - but that's the real problem, there's no good information on this - I'm working of of rumors, various posts from individuals and what TT recommended. At the same time, in a separate envelope, I sent my 2020 on paper (e-file wouldn't work because 2019 hadn't been processed yet).  I sent both by certified mail and then I crossed my fingers.

Have not yet received 2019 tax return, second stimulus (filed for tax credit in lieu) and who know what will happen with my 2020 tax return. At the going rate I expect it to take well into 2022.

In January 2020, during the distribution of the second round of stimulus payments, an IRS error caused delays in the distribution of some stimulus payments. In an effort to do all that we could to help these customers get the funds they deserved as quickly as possible, we were able to create a secure portal used to update banking information.

Here is what you should expect when you provide information in the secure portal:

  • If you filed your 2020 tax return and it has been processed by the IRS, your stimulus will be sent to the account you provided in that return.
  • If you provided updated banking information via the TurboTax Stimulus Portal for the second stimulus, that information was given to the IRS so they could deposit a third stimulus payment in that account.
  • If a bank account the IRS has on file is closed and your bank rejects the payment, the IRS will either:
  • Deposit your stimulus check into the bank account you entered into the TurboTax portal, or
  • Send your stimulus by check to the address they have on file for you within 14 days.

If this applies to you, you can get updated information on how you can expect to receive your stimulus payment. If the IRS reissues a payment, they will update the status no more than once a day at: IRS Get My Payment

You can use the free TurboTax Stimulus Registration product to easily provide the IRS with the information they need to calculate and send your stimulus payment.

Here is a TurboTax article with updated stimulus information.

Thank you. This is my situation and I was informed more by you than anywhere else with the IRS. We have never had problems with TT. My spouse & I had to file snail mail because online couldn’t identify her.

Anyway, I suspect we will have to wait for our 2019 documents to show up. We know they got it. Our check was cashed March 13, 2020. Yeah, last year. We got the first stimulus but not the second.

Thanks,

If you e-filed, I would call TT and ask for the DCN, Declaration control number (DCN). The DCN is a 14-digit number assigned to each tax return. Then at least you have record of their receipt of your filing. I'm hearing more and more stories where people's 2019 returns weren't processed, I guess ABC just did a special on it, saying we're a couple among millions.

IRS has no record of my filing

I obtained my transcript because we couldn't send our tax return online last year and this year. We thought it was computer glitch. I obtained my transcript. Note that my spouse and I have filed for 24 years.

There was not returns listed on my transcript. Not a single one. I have worked and paid taxes. My spouse and I are still married and file jointly. Why do are transcripts not mirror each other. This is very concerning. I don't even know where to begin on how to resolve this issue.

It took two letters and a code just to get to recognize my identity so I could get my transcript.

Any suggestions?

The IRS is still processing 2019 returns that were mailed and you are going to have to speak with someone there to find out more details.   If you qualify for a stimulus payment, you will get it, but no one here is going to be able to give you any kind of timeline as to when.  Please see this discussion which details how to deal with the IRS phone system prompts to get through to a live agent.  https://intuit.me/2NMQfZ6     I am not sure about your transcripts, but that is something that you will need to discuss with an IRS agent.   I have not had to request a transcript this year, but they have always been correct in previous years.  IRS Operations During COVID-19: Mission-critical functions continue  This info page was updated this week.

You can view this article which is updated continuously for information regarding stimulus payments.  Were you able to e-file the 2020 return or was that sent by mail too?

we had to mail return 2020 as well.

This is what made me suspicious because when you e-file you put you ID, date of birth and exp of your license. TT was saying my date of birth did not match with my ID.

when I tried to get my transcript it was worse. My SS# was not matching with my date of birth. This was crazy. I have filed taxes since I was 18. My transcript shows 2011 to 2019 with not a single return. This is very concerning.

my husband transcript shows all previous returns but no   2019 and of course, no 2020.

thank you for the info. I will look into it. But I suspect I will have to talk to an IRS agent if I can ever get a hold of one.

The transcripts may be okay if your husband is listed first on all of your previously filed Married Filing Jointly returns.  I know they received your 2019 return and you know that they did because you included a check that they cashed.   I know that they are still processing paper-filed 2019 returns because I have clients that are like you, still waiting for them to be processed.  One client that is waiting, paper-filed in April of last year (they have heard nothing but were able to e-file this year by using 0 for the AGI) and I have another client who paper-filed in November that just received his 2019 refund.    Why they processed a return received in November before they processed returns received in March or April is concerning, to say the least, but it is the government, so we shouldn't be too surprised.

But I know also, that it has to be nauseating waiting to hear something, especially if you paper-filed over a year ago.   Unfortunately, you are going to have to contact them if you want to find out more information.  I am not sure if I included this link previously or not, but I am going to leave it here.   It will help when dealing with the IRS phone system prompts and will hopefully minimize your hold time.   I know that I can get ahead of myself and the prompts when dealing with automated phone systems.    When (and if) you do decide to call, avoid Mondays and call as early in the day as possible.  @Loli Gonzales-Hill

Same here.

I only figured it out because my file for 2020 kept getting 'rejected' because my AGI didn't match.

When I looked at the IRS transcript, they have no record of my filing, but accepted my payment. I got a state revenue expert on the phone and she said to re-send them in this year.

I did find that if you change your option on last year's AGI to "I didn't file last year" and '0" they will be accepted because they are really just looking for a match for their records.

I'm resending my 2019 return by mail and crossing my fingers it goes through this time.
