After you file

The transcripts may be okay if your husband is listed first on all of your previously filed Married Filing Jointly returns.  I know they received your 2019 return and you know that they did because you included a check that they cashed.   I know that they are still processing paper-filed 2019 returns because I have clients that are like you, still waiting for them to be processed.  One client that is waiting, paper-filed in April of last year (they have heard nothing but were able to e-file this year by using 0 for the AGI) and I have another client who paper-filed in November that just received his 2019 refund.    Why they processed a return received in November before they processed returns received in March or April is concerning, to say the least, but it is the government, so we shouldn't be too surprised.

But I know also, that it has to be nauseating waiting to hear something, especially if you paper-filed over a year ago.   Unfortunately, you are going to have to contact them if you want to find out more information.  I am not sure if I included this link previously or not, but I am going to leave it here.   It will help when dealing with the IRS phone system prompts and will hopefully minimize your hold time.   I know that I can get ahead of myself and the prompts when dealing with automated phone systems.    When (and if) you do decide to call, avoid Mondays and call as early in the day as possible.  @Loli Gonzales-Hill
