IRS communication is a joke

I can understand that because of COVID-19 there will be delayed wait times, HOWEVER I've found out from multiple people that have files after I have that already received their returns. I filed Feb 12th, accepted on Feb 13th and here we are a week away from June.

21 days is understandable however 4 months with ZERO information is down right disrespectful. If this was the other side of the coin and we had owed money to the IRS then our checks would be garnished or there would be some sort of way that they would get their money from everyone. Every number you try to call through the IRS send you to an automated system, other than that the website offers ZERO assistance.

I have been patient throughout this process but there needs to be some sort of update provided. I know there is more than just myself who is going through this process and I need to know what is going on other than the blanket check the FAQ from the IRS, or that they have 21 days to respond. I have also heard that I should call a TAC but even THEY do not call back after multiple voicemails have been left.

I have started doing my own research and I have even seen something saying that we won't get our tax return until October timeframe. If that was the case then just say so don't just leave me in the dark.

Sorry, but only the IRS knows.

The Internal Revenue Service reminds taxpayers and tax professionals to use electronic options to support social distancing and speed the processing of tax returns, refunds and payments.

To protect the public and employees, and in compliance with orders of local health authorities around the country, certain IRS services such as live assistance on telephones, processing paper tax returns and responding to correspondence are extremely limited or suspended until further notice. All Taxpayer Assistance Centers remain temporarily closed as are many volunteer tax preparation sites until further notice. However, as of May 17, the IRS has delivered Economic Impact Payments to 140 million individuals and millions more are on the way every week.

Although the tax filing deadline has been extended to July 15, 2020, from April 15, the IRS continues to process electronic tax returns, issue direct deposit refunds and accept electronic payments.
