It means you have to pay more.  Did you pay the $3,000 bill?  Did you start the Amended return before you entered any new or changed info?  Did you have a refund on the original return?  You might have to pay some of the refund back plus the extra tax.  What did you have to amend for?

The amended return will only be the difference you get back or need to pay. You can confirm this by printing your amendment and looking at the 1040X. Line 18 should be your original refund amount and line 21 should be your additional refund. If you paid on your original return it will be on line 16 (but don't include any penalty on 1040 line 38). If there is an amount owed with the amendment, it will be on line 20.

@TammyHarris Well, if you want to file a 2022 tax return, you cannot complete and e-file the return online.

Using TurboTax you can only purchase, download and install one of the 2022 desktop editions on a personal computer, desktop or laptop, Windows or Mac from this website - https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/past-years-products/

A 2022 tax return can only be printed and mailed, it cannot be e-filed using TurboTax.

@TammyHarris   You say you do not want any advice, but you need some anyway.   You cannot use online TurboTax for a 2022 tax return.   If you want to use TT, you can only use the downloaded desktop software now on a full PC or Mac, and a 2022 return can only be filed by mail.

Online preparation and e-filing for 2021, 2022, and  2023 is permanently closed.

Note:  The desktop software you need to prepare the prior year return must be installed/downloaded to a full PC or Mac.  It cannot be used on a mobile device.

To file a return for a prior tax year

If you need to prepare a return for 2021, 2022, or 2023  you can purchase and download desktop software to do it, then print, sign,  and mail the return(s)

You may also want to explore purchasing the software from various retailers such as Amazon, Costco, Best Buy, Walmart, Sam’s, etc.

Remember to prepare your state return as well—if you live in a state that has a state income tax.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.

Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses.  Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.
