If you used the free version in 2013 it may be easier and cheaper to just go to the state web site and print off the forms you need since you will have to mail the returns in anyway. If you saved a .tax2013 file on your computer you only need to buy the 2013 downloaded program. But if you didn't then you will also need to pay for the 2014 Online program (unless you already did) to access the 2013 tax file.
To complete a 2013 tax return that was started with the online editions, you will need to download the tax data file (.tax) from the 2013 online account that you created. You have to sign onto the online account with the exact same userID and password you used to create the account.
If you may have forgotten some of your login information, see the following TurboTax support FAQ -https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/1901535-forgot-your-turbotax-user-id-or-password
Or you may have multiple accounts, see this - https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/1901486-problems-associated-with-multiple-turbotax-accounts
The downloaded tax data file will have a file extension of .tax2013. You will then have to download the 2013 desktop program. Install the desktop program on you personal computer. Open the the tax data file that you downloaded by click on File in the upper left of the desktop program screen. Then click on Open Tax Return. The program will search for the tax data file to open the return. If the tax data file cannot be found by the program, you will need to do a hard drive search for the file. Once the tax data file is opened, you can continue the return. Complete the 2013 tax return and print the return for mailing (a 2013 return cannot now be e-filed). Sign and date the return. Include with the return any form W-2's and 1099's you received that have federal income tax withheld.
If you paid for the 2013 TurboTax online account fees, then you can contact TurboTax customer service/support and request that they push a 2013 desktop edition to your download account. If you have already paid for the 2013 desktop edition and have paid the 2013 TurboTax online account fees, then you will need to contact TurboTax customer service/support to request that the charge for the desktop edition be removed from your account.
To contact TurboTax customer service/support use their contact website during business hours. If the problem concerns any type of refund for fees, use the key words billing issues and do Not use the word Refund or you will get a phone number for tax refunds.
