I received a reject letter and fixed it immediately. The issue is I couldn't fax it because the line was always busy so I made sure I followed their directions and mailed it. Have heard nothing in 5 months. I tried calling local IRS office and nobody is answering phones. Please help or give guidance if possible. Thanks in advance.

Call the IRS: 1-800-829-1040 hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Monday-Friday
When calling the IRS do NOT choose the first option re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.
So after first choosing your language, then do NOT choose Option 1 (refund info). Choose option 2 for "personal income tax" instead.
Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".
Then press 3 "for all other questions."
Then press 2 "for all other questions."
- When it asks you to enter your SSN or EIN to access your account information, don't enter anything.
- After it asks twice, you will get another menu.

Press 2 for personal or individual tax questions.
Then press 4 for all other inquiries
It should then transfer you to an agent.

Same here... I faxed it on Nov. 13th and until now no idea if they rcvd it. I have a proof that faxed went through. Been checking the status of refund, still processing. Called the phone number listed in the letter and this suggestion tips to pass by the automated, NO LUCK! Due to extremely calls message over and over again! This is really annoying not to able to talk to any live person! I'll faxed again by the end of 8 weeks. Will never use this system again, this efile is insane!

@votzky

Yes, the IRS is experiencing very heavy call volume and are delayed in the processing of refunds.

Individuals can call the IRS at (800) 829-1040, Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. your local time.

Here are some tips when contacting the IRS:

  • First choose your language
  • Then do not choose the first choice regarding REFUND, or it will send you to an automated phone line.
  • Instead, press 2 for personal income tax questions.
  • Then press 1 for form, tax history, or payment.
  • Then press 3 for all other questions.
  • Then press 2 for all other questions to be transferred to an agent
