2/15 bars on wmr went away. with a  reference code 1541 and to call ext. 312
called was told there is a letter coming on 3/4 have to wait 45 days from then
called a week later to say no letter she said it is coming and there will be one on 3/11. have to wait 45 days.
Letter came in on 3/8  for id verification dated for 3/4 . verified that day 3/8, was told It would be released. and could be up to 6 weeks. was told would see something on wmr in less then 2 weeks.
Called 3/1 to make sure it was released. was told if was in processing stage now. said if I don't see something by next week change on wmr then to call.
Next day 3/14 got a cpo5 letter dated 3/11 it says they are holding my refund to do further review.
Called them that day 3/14 and was told it looked like they were processed all the way through and then something happened. she told me that they want to look at the numbers and credits I claimed. and I would have to wait 45 days from 2/21 to either get it or another letter.

I filed my taxes early this year and they were accepted on February 12. I got a letter from the IRS on March 13 that I needed to verify my identity. I couldn’t do it online so I had to call, and I couldn’t call until March 15. She said it was going to be 9 more weeks. I hope not.

@MistyBerrier74nc Nine weeks is the guideline that the IRS has set forth for this procedure. The following is an excerpt from their website:

" What happens after I successfully verify?

If we successfully verify your identity, we’ll process your tax return. It will take up to 9 weeks to receive your refund or credit any overpayment to your account. However, if we find other problems, we’ll contact you again. This will delay your refund more."

I received the Taxpayer Protection Program letter (5071c).  I went online and created an account to verify my identity.  After I entered my SS# and last 8 of my credit card it said thank you for identifying and creating a profile.  I got the email that says I created a profile.

Then online it took me to the next page that says we can't help you through the online verification tool.

Is this because they already have my info now and I've been verified?  Or is it because something else is wrong?  It's confusing.  I tried to call, but can't get through.

Any ideas?
