Solved: I received a check US Dept of Treasury, Bureau of fiscal service for about $700. I request direct deposit, should have been $4000. How do I learn what happened?

In my case it appears it is a check for an amended return I filed. Problem is the post office lost the check, I think it is for maybe $12.00 but this is 2022 so who knows. Since I never got the mailpiece I am not 100% sure but that is the only thing that would explain why I would be getting a physical check because all other tax refunds are direct deposit.

@vrsecond The IRS never makes direct deposits for refunds resulting from amended returns. They only mail you a check.
