NO ... payments you already made are NOT reflected on the 1040X form ... you would simply deduct the amount already paid from the balance due when you send them a payment.
There is not a huge number of summation lines on 1040-X.
1040-X Line 16.
See description of 1040-X line 16
You don't want to be sending IRS less than the "amount you owe" showing on 1040-X.
I stand corrected ... however you either need to make the override in the FORMS mode of the downloaded program OR make a manual correction on line 16 (and recompute the rest of the form) on a paper filed return if you mail it in or use the online program OR just send less with the amended return (or pay it online and not with the amended return)... the IRS will marry up your payments with the return automatically.
"I have already made a payment in 2022"
Did you mark that payment or check for tax year 2021?
Did you mark it for 2021 Form 1040 (direct pay Balance Due) or for 2021 Form 1040-X (direct pay Amended Return?)
In either case, that payment should equal the "amount you owe" on 2021 Form 1040-X.
I've seen the IRS refund1040-X check payments because of the long delay in processing 1040-X.
That's a pain.
