There were no stimulus payments during tax year 2022. The $1,400 stimulus payment was only for tax year 2021. If you were not a dependent on the 2021 tax return then when you completed the 2021 tax return you should have gone through the Recovery Rebate Credit of the return.
Go to this IRS website to access your tax account to see if the IRS sent the payment to you - https://www.irs.gov/payments/your-online-account
The stimulus checks were issued for 2020 and 2021. If you could be claimed as someone else's dependent in 2020 or 2021 you were not eligible to get a stimulus check and would not be eligible now either. If you could not be claimed as someone else's dependent for those tax years, then the only way to get that money is by filing tax returns for 2020 and/or 2021 and using the recovery rebate credit in Federal Review. There is no place to enter anything about stimulus checks on a 2023 tax return.
If no one could claim you as a dependent for 2021, then you can file a 2021 tax return and --again--use the recovery rebate credit in Federal Review to seek the stimulus for 2021. Or----if you filed 2021 and did not use the credit----amend 2021 and seek the recovery rebate credit.
Your eligibility for the stimulus money—-now available as the recovery rebate credit— will depend on your circumstances in 2020 and/or 2021. If you could be claimed as someone else’s dependent in 2020 or 2021, you are not eligible for the recovery rebate credit now.
The first stimulus checks were issued in 2020; the first one was for $1200 for adults and $500 for qualified children dependents under the age of 17. The IRS was in a hurry to send out those checks so they sometimes used information from your 2019 return to send out the check. Or sometimes they sent it after you filed your 2020 return.
The second stimulus was sent in late 2020 or early 2021; that one was $600 per adult and $600 for qualified children dependents under the age of 17.
The 3rd stimulus check was $1400 for adults and $1400 for any dependent you claimed, and was sent out in 2021.
If you did not receive the first or second stimulus check, you can get it by filing a 2020 return and use the recovery rebate credit in Federal Review. The stimulus amount will show up on line 30 of the Form 1040.
If you did not receive the 3rd stimulus check, you can get it by filing a 2021 tax return and use the recovery rebate credit in Federal Review. The stimulus amount will show up on line 30 of the Form 1040.
Check your own bank account for deposits of the stimulus checks, and check your online account with the IRS to see what the IRS shows they sent to you.
Try checking your online account with the IRS (and if you filed a joint return—check for BOTH of you)

If you need to trace a payment that the IRS says has been issued to you, mail or fax a completed IRS Form 3911, Taxpayer Statement Regarding Refund.

To file a return for a prior tax year
If you need to prepare a return for 2020, 2021, or 2022 you can purchase and download desktop software to do it, then print, sign, and mail the return(s)
https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/past-years-products/
You may also want to explore purchasing the software from various retailers such as Amazon, Costco, Best Buy, Walmart, Sam’s, etc.
Remember to prepare your state return as well—if you live in a state that has a state income tax.
When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.
Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses. Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.
Note: The desktop software you need to prepare the prior year return must be installed/downloaded to a full PC or Mac. It cannot be used on a mobile device.
If you are getting a refund, there is not a penalty for filing past the deadline. If you owe taxes, the interest/penalties will be calculated by the IRS based on how much you owe and when they receive your return and payment. The IRS will bill you for this; it will not be calculated by TurboTax.
I never received my stimulus checks
@Jaydub51 Return to the thread you just posted to and read the reply that is directly above your own post. You are now too late to file a 2020 return to get the first two stimulus check amounts---the deadline to do that was May 17, 2024. IF you are eligible to get the third stimulus check, you need to file a 2021 tax return.
I didn’t get my payment for 2021 and 2022
@Beautifulcrazy5532 It is too late to file and get the recovery rebate credit for the stimulus that went out for 2020. The deadline was May 17, 2024. You can still file a 2021 tax return to get the recovery rebate credit for the $1400 stimulus check that went out for tax year 2021. There was no federal stimulus check for tax years 2022 or for 2023.

You cannot change the tax year. The current online program is for 2023 only. Only a 2023 return can be prepared online and only a 2023 return can be e-filed.

@Jeanette mejia Did you read the replies in this very thread---especially the one that is directly above your own question? Please return to the thread and read. The only stimulus check that might still be available to you is the one for 2021----if you did not receive it and if you were eligible in tax year 2021. The way to get that stimulus money is to file a 2021 tax return and use the recovery rebate credit in the Federal Review section of the software. It is too late to get the stimulus money from 2020, and there were no federal stimulus checks for 2022 or 2023.

What if you don’t file. How do I do the nonfilers
how do I do this with no filers
@Michael1972 Sorry-you are far too late to get the stimulus money as a "non-filer" --- The only way to get it is by filing a 2021 tax return. You are not too late to do that for the 2021 $1400, but it is too late to get the stimulus money for 2020, even if you file a 2020 return. The deadline for that was May 17, 2024.

Refunds for tax years 2020 or earlier have been forfeited and will not be paid to you even if shown on the tax return form. But if you owe tax due, you will still have to pay, and you will be billed later for the interest and penalties owed. TurboTax will not calculate the penalties or interest. That will be done by the IRS/state after they receive your return with your payment of the tax due as shown on the tax form(s).
