I'm reviewing individual crypto transactions adding in the dollar amount. On one of them I made a mistake and saved before realizing. How do I go back and correct that?

This is in the Needs Review section for investment income where I need to add missing info. In this case I put in the wrong dollar value and saved before realizing my mistake. Now I can't figure out how to go back to that transaction and correct it since it no longer "Needs Review".

Are you editing a crypto transaction that was imported into TurboTax Premium Online through a .CSV or by directly importing from your exchange?

In TurboTax Online, follow these steps.

  • Down the left side of the screen, click Federal.
  • Down the left side of the screen, click Wages & Income.
  • Click the drop down arrow to the right of Investments and Savings.
  • Click to the right of Stocks, Cryptocurrency, Mutual Funds, Bonds, Other.
  • At the screen Let's finish pulling in your investment income, select the down arrow to the right, then select Edit or View transactions, depending upon how the transactions were imported.

Select the pencil to the right to edit or correct.  Use Search box or search funnel to identify transactions.

Select the box to the left of the transaction to initiate Bulk Edit function.

Thank you for helping out. These are transactions imported from Kraken. Unfortunately your directions don't match up with my interface on TurboTax but I am able to get to the "Let’s finish pulling in your investment income" page. On that page there is a box for "Kraken" that says "Needs Review" and a blue box I can click on that says "Review Transactions". When I click on that the transaction I need to correct does not show up. It was there previously when I originally reviewed it and edited the transaction and entered the wrong dollar value. Then I clicked "save" and the transaction disappeared. So I no longer have the option to edit the transaction.

At this point I would like to just wipe the slate clean and start over from the beginning because in addition to this problem I've noticed there are many errors and edits needed for my Fidelity import as well. For instance, my 1099-INT form from Fidelity was not imported at all. And it looks like every transaction of stocks and bonds from the year needs to be edited. Is there a way for me to start over from the beginning? I've read that it can be helpful to clear the cache and cookies from the browser before importing. Is that true? Thank you.

Clearing cache and cookies would always be a good idea before importing data.

In TurboTax Online, you may be able to Switch Products or Clear Data and Start Over.

  • Switch Products may be found in the lower left hand corner of the screen if it is available.
  • Down the left side of the screen, click Tax Tools.
  • Down the left side of the screen, click Tools.
  • Select Clear and start over in the center of the screen.

See this TurboTax Help.

As long as you have not

  • submitted payment,
  • deducted the TurboTax fee from your refund, or
  • registered your product

you may erase your return and start from scratch in TurboTax Online. If you have done any of these things, you will need to manually edit your return.

To erase your return and start over in TurboTax Online:

  1. Sign in to TurboTax and open or continue your return, if you haven’t already.
  2. Select Tax Tools from the left menu, then Clear & Start Over.
  3. Answer Yes to confirm.
