The IRS does not open until January 25 to begin accepting returns. If you want to mail it instead, you can. They will not process them any sooner though. It would actually take longer if you mail it. Your best option is to file electronically.
Also, double check that your stimulus payment is correct and if you are due any, that is added. Or, be sure nothing extra is added if you got both payments.
What do you mean you just did it? Did you go to the very end and submit the efile? Did you continue on and go all the way through the File tab, through the 3 steps and hit the big orange Transmit Returns Now button?
For the Online version check your efile status here
https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/
When you efile you get back 2 emails. The first email only confirms the transmission. The second email says if the IRS (or state) Accepted or Rejected your efile. Accepted only means they accepted your return FOR Processing. Not that your return is right.
If you efiled do not mail it. And Even if Turbo Tax lets you submit your return they will just hold all the returns until the IRS opens filing on Jan 27, 2021 or later. So there is no hurry. And a lot of people who file early find out they have to amend later like when they get their actual W2 and 1099 forms. Or they get more forms than they were expecting.
