I have not received an email approving my taxes.

I have struggling with my taxes since March.  I filed on June 4th and confirmed everything was ok through tax expert.  I don't know what is wrong.  I have filed my own taxes every year.  Amount due is 3879.00.     Please can you guide or help me?

"Amount due"  ?????    Does it say "Tax Due?"   or does it show a refund?    Is there an amount on line 35a of your Form 1040 or an amount on line 37?    If it is on line 37 that means you owe and need to pay--and you are late.

You say that you filed on June 4.   Today is only June 9.   What problem are you having?   Are you just not sure if your return was accepted or rejected?

Did you e-file?  Did you click a big orange button that said “Transmit my returns now?”

When you e-file your federal return you will receive two emails from TurboTax.  The first one will say that your return was submitted.  The second email will tell you if your federal return was accepted or rejected.  If you e-filed a state return, there will be a third email to tell you if the state accepted or rejected your state return.

First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:

If the IRS accepted it, what does it say here?

Or does your account say “Ready to Mail?”

Note:  If it says “Ready to Mail” or “Printed” that means YOU have to mail it yourself.  TurboTax does not mail your tax return for you.

Since you are using the downloaded program you can open the program and check your efile status.

If you efileddouble-check to be sure the returns were efiled successfully and accepted for processing.

If that showed it was accepted, you can use the "Where's My Refund" tool at the IRS website below to monitor the status of your Federal refund.     What is displayed there?

  • When using that tool,  be sure to enter the correct SSN and filing status.
  • For the refund amount, use only the Federal refund amount, and not any total refund amount that includes a state refund.
  • If you chose to pay TurboTax fees out of your Federal refund, then be sure to use the Federal refund amount before any fees were taken out.
  • The amount to use is on your Federal Form 1040, Line 35a.
  • You can also try phoning the IRS refund hotline.  I've seen it work for some users when the WMR tool didn't.  800-829-1954

If the IRS WMR tools says your refund is "still being processed", and if it's been longer than 21 days, we can tell you how you can try to phone the IRS to see if you can learn anything about the delay.
