This was a mistake to do my taxes on here when people are forced to apply to Irs site for that ID.me which doesn't work either. Might as well have done my taxes at the Irs site and had it done free, I don't get why there is no support here because redirecting someone to a site that doesn't function is not supportive. I would like a service with transparency to let you know that if a preparer is not capable of fulfilling your taxes fully that they would be able to help clarify and make these transitions resolved. Identification verification shouldn't be an issue to receive a refund especially since I been doing taxes with you for prior these years. And the funny thing is that I have enough Identity verification for them to take out money from my bank account for taxes owed (which I agreed to) yet not enough for them to put my refund inside. very nice.
Ok ... let me address all your issues :
Might as well have done my taxes at the Irs site and had it done free, I don't get why there is no support here because redirecting someone to a site that doesn't function is not supportive. The IRS has no tax prep services themselves ... only a link to one of 8 FREE FILE ALLIANCE options to other tax prep services.
I would like a service with transparency to let you know that if a preparer is not capable of fulfilling your taxes fully that they would be able to help clarify and make these transitions resolved. TT is a DIY program and not an income tax preparation service. They do provide in program guidance, phone support and an upgrade to a full preparation service(outside of the TT program ) but they do not provide after filing interactions with the feds or state. At no point does the program indicate that they will do so.
Identification verification shouldn't be an issue to receive a refund especially since I been doing taxes with you for prior these years. The need to ID Verify with the IRS or state is nothing that the TT program can predict or help you with ... some verifications are done randomly so there is no way for the program to warn you in advance. Even one of my professional preparers using a professional program got an ID verification notice a couple of years ago ... no one is immune.
And the funny thing is that I have enough Identity verification for them to take out money from my bank account for taxes owed (which I agreed to) yet not enough for them to put my refund inside. When you agree to have the TT fees withheld from the refund you also agreed to have the fees withheld from your account if they were delayed (which you understand) but the processing bank cannot deposit something the IRS has not yet released. The IRS even says that it can take 9 weeks or more to process/release the refund once the ID verification happens and nothing can be done to speed up the process. Sadly the IRS is seriously behind in processing returns so expect them to take much much longer. https://www.irs.gov/identity-theft-fraud-scams/identity-verification-for-irs-letter-recipients
