I don't understand why I've not received my income tax returns, and what the meaning of the email from TurboTax is about

I finished, and filed electronically, my federal and state income taxes towards the end of March 2024. However, we still haven't received our federal and state income taxes. This concerns me and makes me wonder what's going on.

In addition to this I keep getting emails from TurboTax with messages like:

Let's keep moving and finish your taxes.

Huh??? Why is TurboTax suggesting that I've not finished my income tax return, when I did, and the program told me so??? What's going on???  Why haven't we received our income tax returns, even though I got to the point AND PAID to file both the Federal and State income taxes electronically???

After you paid did you keep going to the end?  You have to pay before you file.

Did you go all the way through the File tab, through the 3 steps and hit the big orange Transmit Returns Now button?

How to check your efile status

https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/electronic-filing/check-e-file-status/L9...

When you efile you get back 2 emails.  The first email only confirms the transmission.  The second email says if the IRS (or state) Accepted or Rejected your efile.  And check your spam folder for them.

When you log into your account you should also see the status and if it was Accepted or Rejected, Started, Printed, Ready to Mail, etc.  What does it say?

If your return was Accepted then check IRS Where's my refund

https://www.irs.gov/refunds/

If you efiled, In the PDF of your TurboTax return, the last page of the federal return should be an "electronic postmark" that shows your name, Social Security number, the date and time that you e-filed the return, and the date that the IRS accepted it.

The good news:
if you are filing for a refund, there is no penalty for missing the Tax Day deadline.

Are you using the Desktop installed program or the Online web  version?

For the Desktop program you have to check the filing status inside the program. Open your return and go up to menu item.....

File > Electronic Filing > Check Electronic Filing Status

Thank you, VolveGirl, for those instructions. According to the TurboTax instructions I haven't filed my Federal and State income tax return. But I have done all of these steps before!!! What in heck has happened??? Why do I have to do what I've already done, and paid for (for my State income tax return)?

go to where's my refund on IRS.gov website.

You won't need to resubmit if IRS says your tax return was received.

You didn't answer if you used the Desktop program or the Online version.  What does the IRS say?  Did they received it?  Where’s My Refund
https://www.irs.gov/refunds

And log into your IRS account and see if they got it.

You could be getting Turbo Tax emails if you have another account.  How to view all your accounts

It's common to end up with multiple accounts. First LOG OUT of whatever TurboTax account you're logged into right now. Then use this TurboTax account recovery website to get a list of user ID's for an email address. Run the tool against any email addresses you may have used
