I would like to open my 2017 turbotax .tax file and step through it like I did when I initially filed it, where it guides me and everything. Possible?

I got a letter from the IRS saying I did something wrong and I would like to step through exactly like I did in the software last year and make sure I entered everything correctly.   Is this possible?   I tried opening the .tax file in Turbotax but it simply acts like I am trying to file a new return.

If you used the downloaded version last year and you still have it on your computer you should be able to open the .taxfile and review the entire process.

I didn’t use the downloaded version I did it online last year.    Is it possible to step through the process if I did it online?

Yes ... just use the Amendment process and simply do not mail in anything.
