What tax year are you referring to----and how long ago did you mail it? It takes at least four weeks for a human to open the envelope and enter your information into the system when you file by mail.
You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount (line 35a of your Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:
I just did my 2024. It said filing complete and I printed out the file. I went to lunch and came back an hour later, logged into my turbo tax account, and it's acting like I haven't done it when I have the printed form of how much money I am hopefully getting back
Oh--you mean you e-filed. Did you look at your return to see what the refund on line 35a shows? Your return is in "pending" now if you e-filed.
MY RETURN IS IN PENDING—what does that mean?
Did you e-file? Did you click that big orange button that said “Transmit my returns now?” If so, your return is now in “pending” on a server. Do not try to change anything while your return is in pending. On January 29 the IRS will begin to accept/reject e-files. The IRS accepts a FEW returns in test batches ahead of January 29—-but that is very random. Watch your emails—including your spam folder—for the notice about whether your e-file has been accepted or rejected. If your return is rejected you will be able to make corrections before re-filing. If the return you e-filed is accepted you will have to wait until it has been fully processed and then amend it to fix any mistakes or omissions. It has been taking the IRS four to six months—sometimes longer—to process amended returns. If you e-filed your state return there will be another email later that tells you if the state was accepted or rejected.
WARNING: Do not try to change anything on your return while it is pending.
Yup. Thank you for the info. I was worried it didn't actually go through since I logged back in an hour later and it's acting like I haven't filed for 2024 yet. Even tho I printed out the completed form. Thank goodness for that

When you e-file your federal return you will receive two emails from TurboTax. The first one will say that your return was submitted. The second email will tell you if your federal return was accepted or rejected. If you e-filed a state return, there will be a third email to tell you if the state accepted or rejected your state return.
Those 2nd and/or 3rd emails will not come until end of January or even early February, unless you get into one of the tiny "test batches."
