I did my 2018 return at my parents house through cd software, and they no longer have the computer - i need to amend - how can i do this?

Oh no.  You need to have the tax data file ending in .tax2018 and install the 2018 program.  Do they at least still have the CD so you can install it?  Do you have a copy or printout of your return?

If you want to use Turbo Tax you have to buy the Desktop program.  You can only buy the download for prior years.  You have to buy a separate program for each year.  They only sell the last 3 years.  You need a full Windows or Mac computer to install it on.  Buy the download here

If you don't have the original.tax file you have to first recreate the actual wrong original return.  You can use the Forms Mode.  Then when it matches each line that you really filed you have to tell Turbo Tax you will mail it so it thinks it was filed.  Then you can amend it.

im not able to do 2018 on the online version which ive used for last 2 years?

No. Online is only for current year returns.

also just checking, i just amended a different year and printed out the forms to send in and there is a 

140.00 fee for turbotax on there?

what is that? i thought amending taxes was free...i already paid for the software for that year, why would i pay another 140?

Huh?  If you are using the Desktop program there is no other fees.  Is that your tax due?

it shows:

less turbo tax fees: 140.00

less fees for additional products: 0.00

expected proceeds: 368.00

i have no idea what that 140 is for 

(this amended return is from last year, where i did them on my own computer and amended online)

i didnt need to purchase anything

Huh Again Huh?  You can not amend online for a return you did using the Desktop program.  And right now online is only for 2020 returns.  You need to amend 2019 using the 2019 program on your computer and starting with the original 2019 tax file ending in .tax2019.

Are you sure you amended2019 and wasn't doing an original 2020 return? There are no fees to amend and you can't efile an amended return right now and even if you could you can't have any fees deducted from it.  That sure sounds like you actually prepared a 2020 return.  I'm totally lost.  You have to call in
