I applied my tax refund for 2018 to my estimated taxes for 2019 but today I received a check in the mail with my refund. It was never applied.

What am I to do because I wanted that money applied to my estimated taxes 2009. Looking back at my tax forms for 2018 line 21 has the amount to be applied to 2019 estimated tax.

1. Deposit the IRS check

2. Send the IRS a check for that same amount as an Estimated payment for 2019. Be sure to put on the check memo section. 2019 ES Payment along with your Social Security Number.

3. Make a copy of the check and keep it in your files so you have it when you prepare your 2019 tax return to make sure there is no duplication.

4. You may want o go onto IRS.gov to find the processing center to send your estimated check to.
