In order to deliver money as quickly as possible to those who need it, the IRS is sending stimulus payments to eligible taxpayers who filed a tax return in either 2019 or 2018 and chose to receive their refund via direct deposit into their checking account. These taxpayers will automatically have their stimulus payment deposited into the account they received their refund.
We have not yet received confirmation from the IRS on whether they will be putting stimulus payments on prepaid debit cards. However, we have noticed that the IRS has started depositing stimulus payments on some prepaid debit cards for taxpayers that chose to receive their refund through that method in tax year 2019 or 2018. If you received your refund on a prepaid debit card in tax year 2018 or 2019, here is what you need to know:
I actually saw this exact situation occur earlier today, someone had a "Turbo Card" from this year AND had an actual bank account from the previous year...and yep, it is now showing as pending on the one associated with their 2018 return. Not sure why the IRS chose to do it that way, but if you still have both cards, you're fine; if not, you'll simply need to log in to that Turbocard account and order a new one. That's obviously IF the refund is put on the old card.
Hey!! i have a card from 2018 and a card from 2019!! i dont actually "have" my 2018 card and haven't been notified of any pending deposits on my Turbo Tax Debit Card account. When i go to the IRS website ive been locked out of my info for over 24 hours and this is AGGRAVATING PLEASE HELP! Bills are due and im **bleep**ED if i dont pay them! kids are priority in my house and we still have no access to our money to help provide for them!
