How will I know when my paper work has been received and submitted?

Did you efile?  When you efile you get back 2 emails. The first email only confirms the transmission. The second email says if the IRS (or state) Accepted or Rejected your efile.

sometime the emails will end up in your spam folder.  check it. 

there is only submitted (email says this) and the accepted or rejected. (next email says this) accepted is received and that the IRS  computers have found no reason to reject it.     this does not mean approved.  the IRS could find issues with the return and send you a notice.

What paperwork?  If you e-filed it is all electronic and paperless. The only time paper is involved is when you choose to file by mail instead of e-filing. If you choose to file by mail that means YOU print it and mail it yourself.
