How to check the status of my Federal tax refund - special case

I'm concerned about my 2020 refund.

I filed my taxes through TurboTax and paid my taxes on May 6th 2021.  I then amended my tax return on October 16th, 2021, and it was accepted on October 17th, 2021. In my amended tax return, I am owed money from the federal government and expected a check.

However, that check has not come.

What I've tried:

• Visiting the IRS's Get Refund Status
  • They say my information is incorrect. I've verified the refund amount with a TurboTax specialist, so I know my information is correct - why isn't my return being shown?
• Calling the IRS
  • I've followed these instructions for calling the IRS multiple times
    • Each time, I get a recorded message that says something like "Due to the high volume of calls, we are unable to process your request. Please call back at a later time." and then eventually hangs up on me
• Calling TurboTax
  • TurboTax has been able to verify that the IRS has accepted my return and has been able to verify that the 35a line on my 1040 required for the "Where's My Refund" site is correct. However, they don't seem to be able to do much more than that.

What can I do? How can I find out where my money is? Do I need to start calling government officials? If so, who should I start with?

How you check the IRS website, Where's My Amended Return?  The IRS is backlogged so they are taken allot longer to process amended returns.

On the IRS website there is an area to check the status of your amended return. It's called "Where's my amended return" I hope tbat this helps!

Thank you! This link told me that it has not been processed yet and gave me a number to call.

Also, it was stored under the zip code I originally filed with, not with the amended zip code, in case that helps people in the future.

@jadikertaxes  Your original return is processed separate than your amended return, so on the IRS website, Where's My Refund you will only see information about your original return.

To check your amended return, you need to check on the IRS website, Where's My Amended Return.
