To clarify this, what state and what type of income?
Florida.
First, FL does not have a state income tax so will not need to complete a FL interview.
In the "My Info" section, "Edit" your personal information. One of the questions is "Are/were you miliary?" Answer "Yes" and a popup question will appear asking about your status. You would select "retired/former millitary."
If you received military retirement pay you should have received a form 1099R showing that pay distribution. You will enter that in the Federal "Income" tab, and the "Retirement" section, using the "IRA, Pension..." topic.
If asked where the distribution is from, select the "Military Retirement" option. Also when asked about the type of retirement, Military retirement is "NON-Qualified."
