How do you file your original state tax return after you have already filed the extension and were approved? Turbo Tax is showing it is an amended return, is this right?

No "amended" is not right. You only amend a tax return if the original return has already been filed and processed, but with missing information or mistakes that need to be fixed. It sounds like you clicked "amend" by mistake.
