How do I retrieve my tax return for 2021

If the 2021 tax return was filed then you would need to amend the return to add the property taxes.  However, property taxes are an itemized deduction on Schedule A.  The total of All itemized deduction on Schedule A must be greater than the Standard Deduction for your filing status to have any benefit on your tax return.

Are the total itemized deduction greater than your Standard Deduction?

Standard deductions for 2021

  • Single - $12,550 add $1,700 if age 65 or older
  • Married Filing Separately - $12,550 add $1,350 if age 65 or older
  • Married Filing Jointly - $25,100 add $1,350 for each spouse age 65 or older
  • Head of Household - $18,800 add $1,700 if age 65 or older

To access your prior year online tax returns sign onto the TurboTax website with the User ID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/

Start the 2022 online tax return by entering some personal information then click on Tax Home on the left side of the screen.

On the Tax Home webpage -

Scroll down to the section Your tax returns & documents.  Click on the Year and Click on Download/print return (PDF) or Amend (change) return

If you used the desktop CD/Download editions installed on your computer, the only copy of your tax data file and any PDF's will be on the computer where the return was created.  TurboTax does not store online any returns completed using the desktop editions.
