In doing my taxes this year with TurboTax, I noticed an error with the mortgage interest deduction on the federal form. Turbotax requires us to calculate our own adjustment (this is annoying as it should be automated). However, the program doesn't use the adjusted value that I input.
I have deleted and re-entered my 1098s to no avail. I ended up paying the additional fee for live advice as I was at a loss for what to do, short of deleting all my information and starting over or filling in forms manually. The tax expert advised me to reduce the amount of interest reported on my 1098s to the allowable amount and add a note to the 1098 detailing why.
Who I do report this bug to?

So... I filed and my returns were rejected- I was not surprised.
However, in returning to rework my tax forms, TurboTax provided me with this guidance:
"We've identified an issue in your Federal tax return due to an error in our software. We've fixed this and apologize for any inconvenience. You'll need to sign into TurboTax delete and re-enter your Home Mortgage 1098s and resubmit your return. This is just for your Federal tax return. To review and re-submit your return: 1) Sign in to your TurboTax account. 2) Select Tax Tool (left menu), to view the popup screen for our Tools Center 3) Select Delete a Form 4) Review Form List- Select to Delete the Form-Tax and Interest Deduction Worksheet 5) Review all State and Local Taxes Information (Sales, Property, car registration, etc) inputted in Deductions and Credits as information may need to be reinputted. 5) Confirm the limited mortgage amount visit the : Mortgage Interest and Refinancing (Form 1098) topic in Deductions and Credits where towards the end of the topic you will see a screen with the title "Your mortgage interest is being limited" 6) E-file your return (you won't be charged any additional fees)."
Hope that helps anyone else who encounters the same error, so they don't spend nearly as much time as I did (or pay for extra support that wasn't necessary). Or perhaps they fixed the software and this error will no longer occur!
Yes, this is super annoying. I am going in circles through these "support" pages. I found several bugs in the past years, and it's more and more difficult to reach support.
