Assuming that you mean an extension. The extension gives you until October 15, 2025 to file your taxes without getting a failure to file penalty. You don't get extra time to pay your taxes so you must pay any taxes that you may have that are due by April 15, 2025 so you won't be assessed the failure to pay penalty.
Refer to the TurboTax Help article How do I file an IRS tax extension?. If you need to file a state extension, review the article How do I file an extension for my personal state taxes?
Sorry---the deadline to request an extension was April 15, 2025. Now your return is just late unless you are in one of the federally declared disaster areas that have been given automatic extensions. Prepare and file your return as soon as you can---or at least make the best estimated payment for 2024 that you can.
Automatic tax filing extensions and special rules for tax deadlines may apply for taxpayers serving in a combat zone or qualified hazardous duty areas, living outside the United States or living in certain disaster areas. These taxpayers may not need to submit a tax-filing extension request – but they should check to see if they qualify before the tax deadline.
