A 2020 tax return cannot be amended until after it has been filed and Accepted by the IRS.  Then you have to wait for the IRS to process the tax return and issue the tax refund or if taxes were owed and paid, to process the payment.

The IRS will not be accepting or rejecting any type of 2020 federal tax return until late January at the earliest.

Why are you asking about amending 2020 already?   If you e-filed it is still in pending right now and has neither been accepted nor rejected.  If you e-filed and made a mistake, you might get lucky--so to speak-- and your return could be rejected.   The IRS will begin to reject/accept returns at the end of January.  Watch your emails.  If it rejects you will be able to fix the mistake and re-file.  If it is accepted with mistakes then it may need to be amended later on.  Don't panic yet.  Wait and see what happens when the IRS tells you if it is accepted.

Meanwhile, do not do anything to the return.  Do not try to change anything.  Changes do not go to a return that is pending.

Do you mean your 2019 return you FILED in 2020?  Why do you want to amend?  If it is for the Stimulus Payment don't bother or worry about the past.  You can claim it on your 2020 return you are filing now.
