I just paid for an e-filing but the deadline has passed. How do I get a refund?

What product are you using, and how were you able to just now pay for efiling?  And  I'll assume you are referring to a 2024 return.   Underneath your question it says "Online TurboTax."  Online TurboTax cannot prepare or efile a 2024 return.   And in Online TurboTax, there is no fee to efile, even when it becomes available in January 2026.  Efiling is free with Online TurboTax.

So we don't know what all you did.  You need to explain more about what you did, the tax year, and how you were able to do it.   We can tell you how to phone TurboTax Support.

How did you pay?   Maybe you prepaid for the 2025 return.  Or did you pay for the Desktop program to file your 2024 return?

You have to print and mail prior year returns. When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS received the return. Don’t forget state.

Important! Mail Federal and State in separate envelopes and mail each year in separate envelopes.
