How can I edit my 2023 State Return only? When I go to the online amend section it wants to do my federal one first which doesn't need amended

To find your previous years' returns, in TurboTax Online:

When you first open your return and see "let's keep working on your taxes", scroll down to the section "Your tax returns and documents". If you prepared your 2023 tax return in TurboTax, in the same account, you should see "2023" listed among the documents you can select to view. If you used a different TurboTax account for 2023, you would need to log in to that account to view your return. See this help article for more information.

If you need to amend only your state return, please see this help article for instructions for both TurboTax Online and TurboTax Desktop.

In TurboTax Online:

1. Go to the Amend screen.
2. Select Amend (change) return, then Amend using TurboTax Online.
   • If you're told to amend your return via TurboTax Desktop, follow the steps for TurboTax Desktop instead.
3. On the screen OK, let's get a kickstart on your 2024 amended return, select The IRS or state sent me a notice (this will allow you to amend only your state return without making changes to your federal) and Continue.
4. On the next screen, select Something else and Continue.
5. On the screen Tell us which 2024 return(s) you want to amend, select 2024 state.
6. Continue until the Let's work on your state taxes screen. Select Amend next to your state return, and continue through the screens to make your amendments.
