Need to change my Bank Direct Deposit Information
@rykryksdad Did you already e-file? If you did NOT e-file you can go to the FILE section and change how you want to receive your refund. If you want direct deposit you need the routing number and your own account number.
You cannot change banking information while your return is in pending, nor can you change it after the return is accepted.
If you e-filed:
Banking information for direct deposit is wrong
If you entered incorrect banking information for your refund, you can change it if your return is rejected. If it is accepted, however, it is too late to change it. The bank will reject the refund and send it back to the IRS. Then the IRS will issue a paper check and mail it to the address you put on your tax return. Expect a delay of at least a couple of weeks to receive your refund.

I need to change my bank information for future stimulus payments

There are only three stimulus payments. There are no more stimulus payments being planned.
The bank information you entered on the 2020 federal tax return is the information that will be used by the IRS. It can only be changed when you file your 2021 tax return next year if you are receiving a tax refund or have taxes owed.
@Carbcycle You cannot use TurboTax to change your banking information. if you already filed your 2020 tax return. The only time you can enter/edit banking information here is when you are getting ready to file a tax return. As for future stimulus payments---there are no future stimulus payments being planned at this point. Only an act of Congress could provide another stimulus payment. As for the monthly child tax credit payments----if that is what you are worried about, there will be a portal on the IRS site where you can update your banking information for the CTC payments that begin in July, but the portal is not available yet.
hey, ii also need to update my bank account info.. its the last 2 digits on routing number that need to be changed.. am ii suffering the same fate, paper check? also, does anyone know if this would also be the reason why ii didnt recieve 1 stimulus? if anyone can be of assistance, it would be greatly appreciated.. thank you so much - jared
@jettcenterfold You cannot change the banking information you entered after you file your tax return. The IRS does not allow it. If your refund goes to a wrong or closed account then the refund is sent back to the IRS and then they mail you a check using the address on your most recent tax return.
We do not know why you did not receive the first stimulus. If you used the recovery rebate credit on your 2020 tax return correctly then the payment for the 1st stimulus should be on line 30 of your Form 1040. If you have an amount on line 30 it becomes part of your total refund. The IRS cross checks every 2020 return that has an amount on line 30. If the IRS records show that you already received the amount you have on line 30 they reduce your refund accordingly.
wow!! ii cant thank you enough for getting back to me with this information 😄 well okay, so even tho a bit delayed, thats good to hear that ill be still receiving it.. once again, thank you so much!!! ii really appreciate it

I originally filed my taxes with tubo tax and used the efile option to get a direct deposit. You told me that everything went through fine when I originally filed 3 DAYS AGO...the next morning I recieved a text message and email saying the state and federal government rejected my filing. It was because I had entered the wrong information for the direct deposit. I accidentially managed to switch it to print and mail in. I NEED TO SWITCH MY TAX FILE AND REFUND TO EFILE AND DIRECT DEPOSIT. I found the correct information to do so. I have absolutley ZERO IDEA HOW TO FILL OUT THESE PRINTED FORMS. I have literally spent the past TWO DAYS TRYING TO GET THIS FIXED AND HAVE GOTTEN ZERO HELP DESPITE HAVING PAID EXTRA FOR YOUR HELP. I'm extremely unhappy and frustrated. This SHOULD be easy to fix. thank you, Nicole Sala
