If you paid the federal taxes owed then you should have proof of payment based on how you chose to pay the taxes.
Cancelled check if you mailed a check with a Payment Voucher, Form 1040-V.
Bank account statement showing the payee and amount paid if you used direct debit from your bank account.
Credit Card statement showing the payee and amount paid if you used a credit card for the payment.
TurboTax does not pay the taxes owed.
If you chose t pay the taxes owed by direct debit from your bank account then the routing and account numbers for the bank were sent with your e-filed tax return. The IRS will debit the account if they received the tax return.
Could it be for 1040 line 38 estimated tax penalty? Did you have an amount on line 38? The underpayment penalty amount Turbo Tax calculates on your 1040 or state is only an estimate. Turbo Tax can not figure it accurately because they don't know exactly when the IRS or state will get your return and tax due payment. It's very common and normal and expected for the IRS or state to bill you for more or send you a refund. Or you elected to have the IRS figure the penalty for you.
