Hi, I bought software from costco. I used it for three tax return. the other two were for CA and I had ot pay 24.99 for state efile. the third one was MI and 24.99 + 44.

I think TurboTax is not a good one and I will let everyone know not to buy this software. If I new I had to pay additional 44 for the state I would not have bought the software for 85 dollar. it was waste of money.

The purchase price for the TurboTax desktop software included both the federal and one state programs.  Then you added another state program for a charge of $44.99.  There is a state tax return e-file fee of $24.99 for each state return e-filed.  You could have avoided the state e-file charge by printing and mailing the state tax returns.  The software also includes 5 free federal e-files

You could have Not purchased the tax preparation software and used the IRS website to get all your federal forms, schedules and instructions for free so you could complete the federal return by hand.  You could also have gone to each state tax department website for the state forms and schedules for free and also complete those state tax returns by hand.

Or you could have gone to a tax professional and paid several hundred dollars for them to complete your federal tax return and two state tax returns for you.

The choice has always been yours on how to complete tax returns.
