Hey I accidentally checked the box that says I received and 1099-C and I can't uncheck it, how do I remove this so it doesn't make me fill out the form to file?

You can delete a form within Turbo Tax by following the instructions here

This remedy does not work.  I have spoken with 3 people at Turbo Tax today and nothing they have suggested or tried using a shared screen has worked.  SO FRUSTRATING!  No more Turbo Tax.

You are able to delete the form but you have information entered in the software that immediately re-generates the form.  You need to remove or correct the entry.  Try these steps:

  • Go to the magnifying glass in the upper right hand corner of the screen.  Enter '1099-C'.
  • Click on 'Jump to 1099-C'.
  • At the screen Tell us about your canceled debt, unclick the option you had chosen.

IRS Form 1099-C Cancellation of Debt is required by the Internal Revenue Service to report various payments and transactions made to taxpayers by lenders and creditors.
